Invisalign Treatment Timeline
Your first step on the road to straighter teeth is a free consultation at Dr. Buono's Garden City, NY, practice. He will analyze your mouth to determine if Invisalign is right for you. The total length of treatment depends on each patient's smile goals, but overall, treatment time is usually equal to that of traditional braces, which is at least one year or more.
Caring for Your Clear Aligners
Your clear aligners will sit against your teeth 20 to 22 hours a day, so it is very important to keep them clean.
Rinse
Rinse your mouth after you eat or drink anything besides water. You should also rinse your aligners before you reinsert them, to ensure there are no lingering food or beverage particles from a previous meal.
Clean
A great way to clean your Invisalign clear aligners is to use the Invisalign cleaning system. However, denture cleaner works as well. Only brush your aligners with a soft-bristled toothbrush and gentle soap: hard bristles and abrasive toothpaste can leave scratches and a cloudy film, making the aligners more visible when worn.
Place
Being removable is one of the major advantages of Invisalign over metal braces, but it does mean they can be misplaced. Always keep your aligners in a safe place where they cannot be lost or damaged. Lost or damaged aligners can add to your treatment time and cost.
How Much Does Invisalign Cost?
/
Just like the amount of time you will need to wear your aligners will vary, the cost of your treatment will vary based on your individualized needs. Dr. Buono's fee structure is very competitive. Plans differ, but it is possible that your insurance could cover some of the expenses. Our warm, friendly staff will work with your carrier to get you the maximum coverage available.
Factors That Can Affect Your Cost
While Invisalign is similarly priced to traditional braces and other orthodontics, there are a few factors that can increase its cost.

Length of Treatment
Invisalign requires you to switch aligners every two weeks to continually shift your teeth into alignment. Longer treatment requires more Invisalign aligners, which increases your overall cost.
Your Oral Health
Any oral health issues like gum disease and tooth decay need to be treated before your teeth can be straightened through Invisalign. Additional procedures like fillings can add to your overall cost.
Preparatory Treatments
Patients with severe misalignment may need additional orthodontic treatment before being fitted for Invisalign. This additional work can add to the cost of your straightening treatment.
Lost or Damaged Aligners
We may have to fabricate another aligner set if yours have been lost or damaged. Contact our practice so we can determine the best way for your treatment to stay on course and minimize excess costs.
Don't Let the Cost of Treatment Keep You From Smiling
We never want the cost of treatment to prevent you from getting the care you need. Our friendly staff is happy to review your insurance plan to ensure you are maximizing your Invisalign benefits. During your consultation, Dr. Buono will go over all your options and discuss ways to meet your dental needs and budget while still achieving your desired results.
